With 68 stations around the Liverpool City region, Merseyrail can offer a wide variety of unique filming locations, including filming on-board carriages and platforms.

The Merseyrail network has already featured as a location for production companies such as Sony, Netflix, BBC and ITV as well as many more. Our stations have also been requested as locations for many photographic shoots.

The stations on our network range from the more modern style to the traditional style of railway architecture.  We are also very fortunate to have an underground tunnel section of our network which can replicate other similar systems in the UK and further afield. In addition there are areas of land across our network and our depot buildings that can be used if required.

We are happy to consider out of hours filming at our stations but this will come with a separate charge.  Out of hours filming can enable wider access to our station areas which would benefit larger productions with a bigger cast and crew.  Our hours of operation are from approximately 05.00hrs until 00.30hrs seven days a week. Please note that if any out of hours filming requires access to a train then this will include discussions with Network Rail to ensure that there is no overnight engineering taking place.

When planning for filming we will organise a site visit to discuss filming requirements where and when applicable.  We will assist in all aspects of planning taking into account any engineering works, special events or timetable limitations that could affect the progression of the filming. If required we can share images of our stations and trains to assist in any research of our facilities prior to agreement of any filming.  Merseyrail will also work with you to agree any changes to station advertising, posters, signage, lighting, other station equipment and station furniture where we are able and without causing any damage or obstruction.

Students and charities may qualify for special discounted rates, please enquire for more information.

Please note that before any filming can commence we will require a copy of your Public Liability Insurance, Risk Assessment and Method Statement.
